Parliamentary Hearings
The Parliamentary hearings on issues of entrepreneurial development in Russia
took place on October 10, 2000 in Moscow at the State Duma session
hall on the initiative of the State Duma Subcommittee on small entrepreneurship
(Chairman - Svetlana Gvozdeva). The State Duma deputies, the representatives
of the governmental bodies and business associations, the representatives
of small businesses participated in the hearings. Topics of the hearings
were: the state policy in the area of entrepreneurial development
in the Russian Federation; small and medium-sized businesses as sustainable
economic growth providers and new jobs creators. (see

Familiarization
tour of the Russian officials to the United States
The SBWG Action Plan implementation project targets at carrying out ad hoc requests
from SBWG expert groups working to accomplish the Action Plan. The
travel of Russian officials was one of these ad hoc requests. The
delegation was headed by Ilya Yuzhanov. The Grantee organized this
trip which in its turn was funded out of the USAID-AMM Cooperative

Familiarization Tour
- Feedback
The Russian delegation members have been
asked to provide a description of their impressions of the U.S.
small business system and what may be the relevant aspects for private
sector development in Russia. As this tour will be part of an on-going
relationship with Russia, not a one-time effort, SBA expects there
will be other opportunities for feedback from the Russian participants.
